AAdvantage® terms and conditions
Updated January 1, 2024
Introduction
The following terms are effective on March 1, 2024 and thereafter until modified.
All AAdvantage® mileage, Loyalty Points, all AAdvantage® tiers and programs including ConciergeKey® and Million Miler™ (“AAdvantage® Status”), awards, award tickets, rewards, gifts and any other benefits that American Airlines offers in the AAdvantage® program (collectively, “AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits”) are conditioned upon your acceptance of and compliance with (i) these terms and conditions (the “AAdvantage® Program Terms and Conditions” or “Terms and Conditions”), (ii) the terms and conditions described elsewhere throughout this website or app, including the aa.com usage terms, and the pages and widgets specifically relating to the AAdvantage® program, American Airlines’ fare rules, and all other applicable American Airlines rules and policies (the foregoing, “the AAdvantage® Program Rules”, and together with the Terms and Conditions, collectively, the “AAdvantage® Program Agreement”) and (iii) the American Airlines conditions of carriage. The American Airlines conditions of carriage are available on aa.com, from any American Airlines airport representative or American Travel Center representative. By enrolling and participating in the AAdvantage® program, or by your use of any benefit or reward under the AAdvantage® program if you are not already an AAdvantage® member, you agree to be bound by and accept the AAdvantage® Program Agreement and the American Airlines conditions of carriage, and acknowledge that you have read the American Airlines privacy policy, which may be viewed at aa.com/privacy. If you transfer, to the extent permitted by American Airlines, any AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits to another person who is not already an AAdvantage® member, you will notify that person of the “AAdvantage® Program Terms and Conditions.”
You are responsible for reading the AAdvantage® Program Agreement, additional member information, AAdvantage® newsletters, and account details available in your online AAdvantage® account in order to understand your rights, responsibilities, and AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits under the AAdvantage® program.
AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits and their use with American Airlines products and services are only for your personal benefit and use through your personal AAdvantage® account and they cannot be sold, advertised for sale or bartered or accessed or used by anyone else except as expressly permitted in the AAdvantage® Program Agreement. Violation of these terms and conditions can lead to loss of AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits and termination of your account.
American Airlines offers the AAdvantage® program at its discretion and has the right to terminate the AAdvantage® program, in whole or in part, or to change or amend the AAdvantage® Program Agreement, in whole or in part, at any time, even if the changes affect the value of AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits already accumulated. The AAdvantage® Program Agreement is subject to change at any time without notice. Please check back frequently for AAdvantage® program updates or rule changes.
All rules are subject to interpretation by designee(s) of American Airlines.

How to earn
The following terms apply to the ways in which you can earn AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points for eligible, purchased tickets issued on or after March 1, 2024 for American Airlines, including its regional airlines, and eligible partner airlines under the AAdvantage® program.
American reserves the right to modify or enhance how AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points are earned or awarded, which right may be exercised at any time and in American’s sole discretion.
(1) All accrued AAdvantage® miles may also earn Loyalty Points, as determined by American Airlines in its sole discretion.
(2) Certain ancillary products, such as upgrades that are purchased with cash, may also earn AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points as determined by American Airlines in its sole discretion.
(3) To ensure you receive credit for your AAdvantage® transactions, please provide your AAdvantage® number when you make your travel reservations or use the services of our participants. Retain all flight documents until the mileage credit appears on your mileage summary. For transactions with other participants, retain your original paid invoice. Mileage will be credited only to the account of the AAdvantage® member who flies, rents a car, stays at a hotel, or earns mileage utilizing other participating companies. No mileage credit will be awarded for canceled flights or through being accommodated on another airline. To receive AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits, including earning mileage credit, the name and date of birth on your AAdvantage® account must match the name and date of birth in your flight reservation.
(4) American Airlines is the final authority on qualification for mileage credit and Loyalty Points and reserves the right to deny or revoke mileage credit or Loyalty Points at any time if American Airlines determines that mileage credit or Loyalty Points were improperly given.
(1) Eligible members may earn AAdvantage® mileage credit and Loyalty Points on eligible, purchased tickets based on the following two approaches, as applied in each instance as determined by American Airlines in its sole discretion:
- (i) Earnings based on ticket price: Unless otherwise expressly stated by American Airlines, travel on any eligible, purchased ticket will earn mileage credit and Loyalty Points based on the ticket price (base fare plus any mandatory carrier-imposed fees). Mileage credit and Loyalty Points will not be earned on government imposed taxes and fees or on optional airline fees such as, but not limited to, change fees, ticketing fees, or charges for products such as seats or checked baggage.
- (ii) Earnings based on distance flown: Unless otherwise expressly stated by American Airlines, some partner marketed flights or types of fares such as those sold in conjunction with a vacation package or tickets where the actual fare is not disclosed, like consolidator, bulk fare, or student tickets, may earn mileage credit and Loyalty Points based on a percentage of distance flown as determined by the booking code purchased. In the event the necessary ticket/fare details are not available at the time of posting of your mileage credit or Loyalty Points, you may earn mileage credit and Loyalty Points based on a percentage of the distance flown as determined by the booking code.
(2) For any flights that earn mileage credit based on a percentage of distance flown, the distance is determined on the basis of nonstop distances between the airports where your flight originates and terminates. On connecting flights with different flight numbers, the distance of each segment will be used. On single-plane, through, or change of gauge flights, the nonstop origin-destination distance will be used and credit for a single qualifying segment will be given.
(3) You may not be able to earn mileage and Loyalty Points on all flights. Unless otherwise expressly stated by American Airlines, you may accrue mileage and Loyalty Points only for purchased, eligible tickets on qualifying routes that are used in accordance with all applicable conditions of carriage, tariffs, rules and terms of ticketing (including compliance with rules prohibiting hidden city, back to back and throwaway ticketing) and travel. AAdvantage® mileage accrual eligibility on airline participant routes is subject to change without notice. Flights to/from Cuba are only eligible for mileage accrual and Loyalty Points on American operated flights.
(4) You cannot accrue partner airline miles with your partner frequent flyer number if you have already used your AAdvantage® number to obtain any AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits such as First or Business Class upgrades, baggage fee waivers, priority boarding, access to Preferred seats or complimentary access to Preferred / Main Cabin Extra seats.
(5) American Airlines assumes no responsibility for how partners record mileage-earning transactions. Members must check with the partners to confirm how such partners record mileage-earning transactions. Please note that some partners’ products or services are not available in all states or countries. Additional terms may apply. In the event there is a conflict or inconsistency between the partners’ terms and conditions and the AAdvantage® Program Agreement, the AAdvantage® Program Agreement will control.
(6) Mileage and Loyalty Points can only be accumulated one time per eligible flight, regardless of the number of seats purchased on each such flight.
(7) After your flight departs, you will not be able to change your selection of a frequent traveler program with respect to that flight.
(8) Unless otherwise stated, mileage credit and Loyalty Points cannot be earned for the same flight, hotel stay, or car rental in more than one of the following programs: the AAdvantage® program or any other loyalty program in which American Airlines participates.
(9) For eligible, purchased tickets on American Airlines and other eligible AAdvantage® airline participants, you will receive AAdvantage® mileage credit and Loyalty Points only for the class of service on which your fare is based when you are ticketed.
- You may request mileage credit for past, eligible transactions up to 12 months from the transaction date. Unless otherwise expressly permitted by American Airlines in its sole discretion, transactions occurring more than 30 days prior to your enrollment date are not eligible for mileage credit.
- You are responsible for ensuring that your mileage and Loyalty Points earned are properly credited. If you believe that mileage or Loyalty Points have been earned but not properly credited, you may be required to submit documentation or other proof satisfactory to American Airlines, which may include copies of ticket coupons, boarding passes, and receipts.
- Any claim for uncredited mileage or Loyalty Points must be received by American Airlines within 12 months after the mileage credit or Loyalty Point were earned.
- Except as otherwise explained below, AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits are not transferable and may not be combined among AAdvantage® members, their estates, successors, or assigns. Accrued AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits do not constitute property of the member, do not have any residual property rights value, and are not transferable (i) upon termination, (ii) upon cancelation, (iii) as part of a domestic relations matter, or (iv) otherwise by operation of law. However, American Airlines, in its sole discretion, may, on a one-time basis, credit accrued AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits to persons specifically identified in a court order or final settlement upon receipt of documentation satisfactory to American Airlines and upon payment of any applicable fees, or upon death of an AAdvantage® member as described in Part E of the “How to Earn” Section.
- Any decision made by American Airlines in response to a transfer request is final and not subject to further review. The transfer request and required documents must be provided within one year after the date of the applicable event giving rise to the request for transfer.
- Unless otherwise expressly stated by American Airlines, you will not be able to transfer mileage or Loyalty Points you accumulate in the AAdvantage® program to any other loyalty program, nor can you transfer mileage you accumulate in another loyalty program to the AAdvantage® program. For more information, visit aa.com/converthotelpoints.
- Mileage credit is transferable between AAdvantage® accounts when offered by American Airlines online at aa.com/buymiles.
- Accrued AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits do not constitute property of an AAdvantage® member or their estate, do not have any residual property rights value, and except as expressly permitted by American Airlines in its sole discretion, are not transferable upon their death.
- Unless otherwise permitted by American Airlines, upon the death of an AAdvantage® member, such AAdvantage® member’s account will be terminated and their AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points forfeited. However, under certain limited situations and upon receipt of documentation satisfactory to American Airlines and payment of any applicable fees, American Airlines may elect to, in its sole discretion and on a one-time basis only, credit accrued AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits of the deceased AAdvantage® member to persons specifically identified in documentation satisfactory to American Airlines, which may include (i) a declaration in support of request for transfer, (ii) a copy of the member’s death certificate, and (iii) a copy of an official document establishing the legal authority of the individual in applicable circumstances. Notwithstanding the foregoing, American Airlines may require a minimum period of at least 6 months to learn of any other claims to the account and to conduct its internal review and process all submitted documentation ("Review Period"). This Review Period will commence as of the submission date of all requested documentation to American Airlines and may be extended in American Airlines’ sole discretion.
- In the event of any disputes or conflicting claims relating to the accrued AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits of the deceased AAdvantage® member, American Airlines may in its sole discretion require an additional Review Period to settle any and all disputes or claims prior to transferring such accrued AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits to the identified persons.
Travel related redemptions
There are many ways you can redeem your AAdvantage® miles, including for travel awards such as flight awards and upgrades.
- From time to time, American Airlines may offer new ways for you to redeem your AAdvantage® miles. All AAdvantage® mileage redemption opportunities are determined by American Airlines in its sole discretion and can be changed by American Airlines for any reason and at any time.
- As an AAdvantage® member, you may receive certain benefits through the oneworld® Alliance in connection with the AAdvantage® program.
- Unless otherwise stated, you may be able to use your AAdvantage® Status benefits across certain AAdvantage® partners, including oneworld® Alliance participating airlines.
- You must include your AAdvantage® number in your reservation record for any flight on which you wish to use AAdvantage® Status benefits.
- AAdvantage® flight award tickets are available while supplies last.
- You may not be able to use miles for travel to all destinations or on all flights. Any award may be withdrawn or subject to increased mileage requirements or new restrictions at any time.
- Flight awards entitle you to one-way travel unless otherwise noted. Certain special awards require round-trip travel, and immigration laws in some locations require proof of onward or return travel.
- For each one-way flight award redeemed for travel within the United States or Canada, a maximum of three segments are permitted. For all other destinations (including Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands), a maximum of four segments are permitted.
- AAdvantage® flight awards may not be used in conjunction with any other promotion, coupon, discount, or special offer; and are void where prohibited by law. Members may not combine AAdvantage® flight awards with upgrade awards. Flights to/from Cuba are only eligible for mileage redemption on American Airlines flights.
- Your flight awards are only valid for designated award destinations served at the time you use the ticket. In the event that American Airlines or an AAdvantage® participating carrier ceases to serve a destination for which an award has been redeemed, American Airlines will redeposit the AAdvantage® miles redeemed for that award into your account.
- Tickets issued as AAdvantage® flight awards are not applicable for travel on American Airlines cooperative codeshare service with other carriers. In addition, selected flights designated as AAdvantage® airline participant flights, but operated by another carrier, may not be valid for award travel.
- For flight awards, including partner airlines travel awards, your reservations must be made with, and your tickets issued by, an American Airlines reservations or ticketing location. All flight awards must be ticketed on American Airlines ticket stock.
- Flight awards on American Airlines and our airline participants may be subject to special limitations on seating availability. Reservations for flight awards will be accepted, and you will have a confirmed seat, as long as award seats are still available for the award you are using when you make your reservation.
- Once ticketed, you will have one year from the date of ticketing to complete all travel unless otherwise noted.
- Subject to the rules prohibiting purchase, sale, or barter of AAdvantage® mileage or travel awards, as well as the rules pertaining to any special AAdvantage® offers, AAdvantage® award tickets may be issued in any name designated by the AAdvantage® member; however, the recipient of the award ticket must be identified at the time the award reservation is ticketed and cannot be identified at a later point in time, such as a charity to be named later, or conditioned upon the outcome of a future event, such as the winner of a contest or the onward sale of the ticket.
- If you voluntarily terminate your AAdvantage® account, American Airlines will honor award tickets already issued at the time of account termination, but such award tickets cannot be modified or transferred.
- Award tickets have no cash value and are non-transferable and non-assignable.
- Complimentary upgrades, including the use of any complimentary upgrade benefit on AAdvantage® award tickets, may be available for ConciergeKey®, AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum Pro®, AAdvantage Platinum® and AAdvantage Gold® members as determined by American Airlines.
- AAdvantage® Status members may receive a complimentary upgrade for one companion traveling on the same flight.
- If you are not an AAdvantage® Status member, you may only upgrade when traveling as the companion to an AAdvantage® Status member.
- Upgrades are valid on American Airlines marketed and operated flights offering a First or Business Class cabin within and between the 50 United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Bermuda, as well as between the United States and Central America (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua or Panama).
- Complimentary upgrades are valid from either Main Cabin or Premium Economy to the next class of service (Business or domestic First).
- Upgrade inventory is subject to seating limitations and capacity controls.
- Upgrade reservations may be confirmed – if upgrade seating is available – as early as 120 hours prior to the scheduled departure time of the flight for ConciergeKey® members, 100 hours for AAdvantage Executive Platinum® members, 72 hours for AAdvantage Platinum Pro® members, 48 hours for AAdvantage Platinum® members, and 24 hours for AAdvantage Gold® members. If a confirmed upgrade is not available, you will automatically be added to the Airport Upgrade Standby List at check-in.
- For any flight on which you are a confirmed passenger, upgrade priority at the airport will be ConciergeKey® members first, AAdvantage Executive Platinum® members next, then AAdvantage Platinum Pro® members, followed by AAdvantage Platinum® and then AAdvantage Gold® members. In addition, your upgrade priority within each AAdvantage® Status will also be determined based on the type of upgrade, your 12-month rolling Loyalty Points, booking class, and the date and time your upgrade was requested initially.
- AAdvantage® mileage will accrue for the class of service on which your eligible fare is based when you are ticketed, not the class of service flown.
- In the event of a cancellation or irregular operation, American Airlines will attempt to honor your upgrade on another flight operated by American Airlines or one of its regional carriers. If you are accommodated on another carrier, you will be given travel options that will include options to travel in the class of service purchased on your American Airlines ticket. If you received an upgrade on a flight and subsequently change your upgraded flight to a different flight, American Airlines will attempt to request the same upgrade for you on your new flight but cannot guarantee that any upgrade will be made.
- American Airlines reserves the right to eliminate or restrict the use of upgrades on certain flights and make other such changes at any time without notice. Use of upgrades to any future American Airlines destination is subject to approval.
- Complimentary upgrades cannot be combined with any other offer. No substitutions or rain checks are permitted. Theft, diversion, reproduction, transfer, sale or purchase of complimentary upgrades is prohibited and constitutes fraud. Complimentary upgrades are void if altered, duplicated, copied, reproduced, transferred, sold, exchanged or expired.
- If you voluntarily terminate your AAdvantage® account, American Airlines will honor upgrades already issued at the time of account termination, but such upgrades cannot be modified or transferred.
- Unless stated otherwise, upgrade awards are limited to a one-way trip for a maximum of three eligible flight segments. No stopovers are allowed when using a one-way upgrade award. All upgrade awards are subject to capacity controls.
- Any upgrades to tickets using AAdvantage® mileage can only be processed by American Airlines or third parties designated by American Airlines.
- Upgrade awards are valid from either Main Cabin or Premium Economy to the next class of service (Business or domestic First) or from Business to First.
- Upgrade inventory is subject to seating limitations and capacity controls.
- If a confirmed upgrade is not available, you will automatically be added to the Airport Upgrade Standby List at check-in.
If you are accommodated on another carrier, you will be given travel options that will include options to travel in the class of service on your American Airlines ticket.
- Upgrade awards cannot be combined with any other offer. No substitutions or rain checks are permitted. Theft, diversion, reproduction, transfer, sale or purchase of upgrade awards is prohibited and constitutes fraud. Upgrade awards are void if altered, duplicated, copied, reproduced, transferred, sold, exchanged or expired.
- Prior to ticketing, you may change your AAdvantage® travel award reservations with no charge incurred. However, if you change your AAdvantage® travel award reservation after the original ticketing, additional miles or fees may apply for each ticket and are due at the time your ticket is reissued. Required miles and fees are subject to change without notice.
- AAdvantage® mileage will be reinstated for wholly unused AAdvantage® awards if the reservation is canceled before departure and if the ticket has not expired.
- Expired tickets will not be reinstated. If a portion of the miles used to claim an award ticket has expired, only those miles that have not expired will be reinstated. Partially used awards will not be reinstated.
- American Airlines is not responsible for the cancellation of award reservations or changes to any award travel plans made by members.
- Awards for international travel are subject to appropriate governmental approvals.
- AAdvantage® flight awards are subject to, and the passenger is responsible for, any applicable departure taxes, security fees, federal inspection fees, passenger facility charges or other taxes, fees, and surcharges assessed by appropriate authorities or partner carriers. In addition, there may be applicable non-refundable charges under the AAdvantage® program, such as AAdvantage® award charges or upgrade award co-pays. Any additional fees that may apply for each award ticket are payable by credit card.
- Travel on AAdvantage® tickets will be subject to the tariffs, contract of carriage, ticket terms, and re-accommodation policies of the carrier on which travel is scheduled and may also be subject to the Warsaw Convention or the Montreal Convention. Please see the “Introduction” Section for the link to the American Airlines conditions of carriage.
- Any departure fee, immigration fee, security fee, tax liability surcharge, passenger facility charge, or any other fee or surcharge (whether enacted by a governmental authority or otherwise) is the responsibility of the passenger or the AAdvantage® member.
1. American Airlines assumes no responsibility for and is not liable for any unauthorized access by third parties to a member’s account or account information, including any unauthorized award transaction made from the account, except as provided under applicable laws. American Airlines assumes no obligation or duty to re-credit any unauthorized mileage withdrawal made by third parties; however, American Airlines reserves the right to review, in its sole discretion, requests for re-crediting unauthorized mileage withdrawals provided such request is made to American Airlines within three months of the unauthorized withdrawal.
AAdvantage® status, reward qualification and Loyalty Points
- The AAdvantage® Program Agreement applies to all AAdvantage® Status such as AAdvantage Gold®, AAdvantage Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum Pro®, AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, ConciergeKey® and AAdvantage Million Miler™ and their associated benefits.
- Please see the link to the “AAdvantage® Status” webpage for details. The AAdvantage® Status qualification year begins on March 1 and runs through the last day of February of the following calendar year. The AAdvantage® Status membership year (when your status is valid) takes effect the date you qualify, or April 1 (whichever comes first) and will be valid through March 31.
- In addition to earning AAdvantage® miles, eligible transactions may also earn Loyalty Points as specified by American Airlines.
- Except as otherwise specified, certain AAdvantage® miles-related transactions, including the following, are not eligible to earn Loyalty Points: (i) Bonus AAdvantage® miles earned from Offers (as defined in Part A.1 of the “AAdvantage® Offers / Partner Offers” Section), (ii) AAdvantage® miles from Buy, Gift, Transfer transactions, and (iii) Conversion of another program currency to AAdvantage® miles.
- American Airlines may use Loyalty Points for any purpose it determines in its sole discretion. For example, Loyalty Points are used to track qualification towards certain AAdvantage® Status.
- One eligible AAdvantage® mile equals one Loyalty Point. Eligible miles may be changed by American in its sole discretion at any time without notice.
- If you accrue Loyalty Points but the accrual becomes invalid (e.g., a qualifying purchase is cancelled) or the accrual was obtained fraudulently or in an unauthorized manner, the applicable Loyalty Points will be removed and any AAdvantage® Status qualification and benefits triggered by such accrual may be reversed.
- Termination of your AAdvantage® account for any reason will result in the immediate forfeiture of all accrued AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits, including First or Business Class upgrades, baggage fee waivers, priority boarding privileges, and access to Preferred or Main Cabin Extra seats.
AAdvantage® offers / partner offers
- By engaging in any offer to receive bonus American Airlines AAdvantage® miles, Loyalty Points or any other AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits (“Offer”), you agree to be legally bound by the AAdvantage® Program Agreement and the specific terms and conditions of the Offer.
- All third party provider terms and conditions apply. Any Offer and third party providers are subject to change without notice. American Airlines may, at any time and without notice, change, stop, or end any promotion in part or in full.
- Unless otherwise specified, AAdvantage® miles earned through an Offer do not accrue Loyalty Points or count toward AAdvantage® Status qualification or AAdvantage Million Miler™ status.
- For any Offer tied to an AAdvantage® member’s Loyalty Point activity, unless otherwise permitted by American Airlines, only Loyalty Points accrued through travel or other Offers after registration will be considered for such Offer.
- Unless otherwise specified, all AAdvantage® miles earned from flying with eligible AAdvantage® airline participants as determined by American Airlines in its sole discretion (which may include flights marketed by American Airlines, oneworld® airlines, and GOL Airlines) qualify towards Offer requirements.
- American Airlines is not responsible for the quality or delivery of any goods or services provided by any third party as part of any Offer.
- American Airlines is not responsible for and will have no liability arising from products or services offered by other participating companies in connection with any Offer.
- Accumulation of AAdvantage® mileage and use of AAdvantage® travel awards with companies other than American Airlines are subject to the continued participation of such companies in the AAdvantage® program.
- By participating in any Offer, you agree to the AAdvantage® Program Agreement that are applicable to Offers, which are final and binding on you, your estate, successor and assign in all respects. Subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, American Airlines reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or suspend any Offer or any portion hereof, or to disqualify any individual implicated in any of the following actions, if for any reason: (i) infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, actions by participants, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which, in American Airlines’ sole opinion, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Offer, (ii) the Offer or any website associated therewith (or any portion thereof) becomes corrupted or does not allow the proper processing of participant information per these terms, or (iii) the Offer is otherwise not capable of running as planned by American Airlines.
- By participating in any Offer, you agree to release and hold harmless American Airlines, its parent(s), subsidiaries, affiliates, divisions, advertising and promotional agencies, wholesalers and retailers, employees, officers, directors, shareholders, and agents (collectively the “Released Parties”), from and against any and all claims, actions, or liability for any injuries or death, loss, or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with participation in the Offer or acceptance or use of any AAdvantage® miles and for any claims based on publicity rights, defamation, invasion of privacy, and merchandise delivery. The Released Parties are not responsible or liable for any incorrect or inaccurate participant information, and assume no responsibility for (i) any error, omission, interruption, defect, or delay in operation or transmission at any website, (ii) failure of any participant information to be reported to American Airlines due to technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, (iii) communications line, hardware, or software failures, (iv) damage to any computer (software or hardware) resulting from participation in the Offer, (v) theft or destruction of, tampering with, unauthorized access to, or alteration of participant information, or (vi) participant information or mail which are late, lost, stolen, damaged, illegible, unintelligible, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete, or lacking postage (or any combination thereof). The use of third-party software or website or automated systems to participate is prohibited, and American Airlines reserves the right to disqualify participants who engage in the Offer in such fashion. By participating, you agree to comply with these rules. Any participant who attempts to tamper with any Offer in any way shall be disqualified. Additional restrictions may apply.
- An Offer cannot be combined with any other offer. No substitutions or rain checks are permitted. Theft, diversion, reproduction, transfer, sale or purchase of this offer is prohibited and constitutes fraud. An Offer is void if altered, duplicated, copied, reproduced, transferred, sold, exchanged or expired.

- These reservations of rights apply to all aspects of the AAdvantage® program, including all AAdvantage® Status such as AAdvantage Gold®, AAdvantage Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum Pro®, AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, ConciergeKey®, and AAdvantage Million Miler™.
- American Airlines may, in its discretion, change the AAdvantage® program rules, regulations, travel awards, and special offers at any time with or without notice. - American Airlines may make any one or more of these changes at any time even though such changes may affect your ability to use the AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits that you have already accumulated. American Airlines reserves the right to end the AAdvantage® program with six months’ notice. AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits and special offers are subject to government regulations.
- Program services and benefits available through the oneworld® alliance or other participating partners in connection with the AAdvantage® program are subject to change without notice. For complete details about the AAdvantage® program, visit aa.com/aadvantage.
- American Airlines reserves the right to terminate your AAdvantage® account for inactivity. With respect to new AAdvantage® accounts (i.e., those created within the prior twenty-four months), American Airlines reserves the right to terminate such accounts that do not have any mileage earning or redeeming activity for 12 months.
- American Airlines may at any time suspend or terminate any AAdvantage® account for any reason in its sole discretion, such as suspending or terminating any AAdvantage® account associated with a customer who violates American Airlines policies and procedures as determined by American Airlines in its sole discretion, including when such customer has been added to the American Airlines “no fly list” for any reason.
- American Airlines reserves the right to audit any and all accounts at any time and without notice to the member to ensure compliance with AAdvantage® program rules and applicable conditions of carriage or tariffs (including validating that the name and date of birth on the AAdvantage® account matches the name and date of birth in a flight reservation). In the event that an audit reveals discrepancies or violations, AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits may be delayed until the discrepancies or violations are resolved in a manner satisfactory to American Airlines. Pending such resolution, members may be prohibited from accessing or using their account as determined in American Airlines' sole discretion.
- IN NO EVENT WILL AMERICAN AIRLINES OR ANY AADVANTAGE® PARTICIPANT BE LIABLE TO YOU, OR ANYONE CLAIMING THROUGH A MEMBER, FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR LOST REVENUE OR PROFITS, ARISING OUT OF THE ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF AMERICAN AIRLINES OR ANY AADVANTAGE® PARTICIPANT IN CONNECTION WITH THE AADVANTAGE® PROGRAM.
- Termination of your AAdvantage® account for any reason will result in the immediate forfeiture of all accrued AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits.

- All requests to terminate your account must include the following information to confirm your identity: Your full name, your AAdvantage® number, email address on your AAdvantage® account, your country of residence, and your date of birth.
- AAdvantage® account termination is permanent, but if you terminate your AAdvantage® account voluntarily while in good standing, you may open a new AAdvantage® account at any time; however, any AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits which may have been available under your previous AAdvantage® account prior to termination will not be reactivated or transferred to your new AAdvantage® account.
- Except as expressly permitted by American Airlines, only individuals are eligible for AAdvantage® program membership. Each eligible individual is limited to one AAdvantage® program membership.
- The AAdvantage® Program Agreement also applies to eligible businesses and individuals who are either a Travel Manager or a Business Traveler acting in their capacity as employees of the eligible business under the AAdvantage Business™ program.
- American Airlines collects personal data about participants online, in accordance with its privacy policy.
- You understand and agree that the AAdvantage® program and any and all information associated with the AAdvantage® program such as your AAdvantage® member information, AAdvantage® account number and password are solely owned by American Airlines as “American Data” and are confidential information of American Airlines.
- Except for the sharing of your AAdvantage® account number with AAdvantage® partners as permitted by the AAdvantage® program, you may not share any American Data with any third party without American Airlines’ express consent. However, for purposes of accessing your AAdvantage® account with your consent, a person in your household or a person that you directly supervise as part of their career or employment may also use your AAdvantage® account number and password solely to provide administrative support to you in connection with your AAdvantage® account.
- American Airlines will have no liability in connection with any unauthorized use or access of your AAdvantage® account, AAdvantage® account number or password.
- Any valuation of the AAdvantage® miles or any other AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits stated in any Offer (as defined in Part A.1 of the “AAdvantage® Offers / Partner Offers” Section) is based on available information provided to American Airlines. The value of the AAdvantage® miles may be taxable as income.
- Income tax liability related to any AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits, if applicable, is the responsibility of the member.
- All federal, state, and local taxes and any other costs and expenses associated with the acceptance or use of AAdvantage® miles or any other AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits not specifically provided for in the AAdvantage® Program Agreement are solely your responsibility. You are responsible for reporting and paying any and all applicable taxes. You must contact your own tax advisor for any questions concerning taxes.
- Your mileage summaries and redemption receipts will be sent to the email address that you provide. You may also receive special promotional materials at the mailing address or e-mail address you provide.
- You may view your account status and mileage summary on www.aa.com, on our app or by subscribing to receive the AAdvantage® Account Summary. AAdvantage® Account Summary subscribers receive their summary and information every month, as long as there is AAdvantage® account activity in the prior three years. Your summary includes flight and participant mileage earned, Loyalty Points, along with AAdvantage® program information and special promotions.
- You will be responsible for letting American Airlines know of any name, email, or address change on your account. Please ensure that the name in your AAdvantage® account matches exactly the name on your government-issued photo ID used when you travel.
- Name change requests cannot be processed over the phone. You must instead submit a copy of supporting legal documentation (e.g., court order, marriage certificate, divorce certificate) by mail or follow the instructions on this website or app to submit your identity verification. Identity verification will be required for any name change requests. Your signature and AAdvantage® membership number must be included in all written correspondence.
- Unless otherwise stated, if your account has no Qualifying Activity in any 24-month period, all miles in the account will expire (“24-Month Qualifying Activity Requirement”). “Qualifying Activity” is defined as redeeming any AAdvantage® award or accruing mileage credit on any eligible purchases with American Airlines or AAdvantage® airline participant as well as accruing mileage credit with participating hotels, car rental companies, credit cards, and other service providers offering AAdvantage® mileage credit. Qualifying Activity extends the expiration date of all unexpired mileage credit in your account for 24 months from the date of the Qualifying Activity. The 24-Month Qualifying Activity Requirement will not apply to AAdvantage® members under age 21. Once an AAdvantage® member turns 21 years of age, their account must have mileage earning or redeeming activity within 24 months of their 21st birthday in order to retain their miles. If your account does not include a birth date in the member profile, the account will be subject to the 24-Month Qualifying Activity Requirement.
- AAdvantage® members may reactivate AAdvantage® miles by paying a reactivation fee determined by the number of miles to be reactivated. AAdvantage® mileage will only be eligible for reactivation if done so within the specific timeframe determined by American Airlines from the date of expiration and subject to the conditions set forth by American Airlines. Any miles not reactivated at that time will be forfeited. AAdvantage® members can reactivate their miles either on aa.com or with AAdvantage® Customer Service.
- Except for transfers as expressly permitted via your AAdvantage® account, you may not, at any time, purchase, transfer, sell, advertise for sale, or barter (including by means of transferring, gifting, or promising) any AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits associated with the offering of any American Airlines products or services for any purpose whatsoever, such as in exchange for payment or in support of a business, product or charity or participation in an auction, sweepstakes, raffle or contest. Any such AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits are void if transferred for cash or other consideration. Violators (including any passenger who uses a purchased or bartered award ticket) may be liable for damages and litigation costs, including American Airlines’ attorneys’ fees incurred in enforcing this rule.
- Fraud, misrepresentation, abuse, or violation of applicable rules (including the American Airlines conditions of carriage, tariffs and the AAdvantage® Program Agreement) is subject to administrative or legal action by appropriate governmental authorities and American Airlines. Such action may include the forfeiture of any and all AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits in a member’s account, as well as termination of the account and the member’s future participation in the AAdvantage® program. In addition, American Airlines reserves the right to take appropriate legal action to recover damages, including its attorneys’ fees incurred in prosecuting any lawsuit.
- Use of award tickets that have been acquired by purchase or for any other consideration may result in the tickets being canceled, confiscated, or the passenger being denied boarding. If a trip has been started, any continued travel will be at the passenger’s expense on a full-fare basis. The passenger or member who attempts to use such a ticket may also be liable to American Airlines for the cost of a full fare ticket for any segments flown on a sold or bartered ticket.
- All reservations or award tickets that are made or purchased through fraudulent means are void and will be cancelled by American Airlines.
- If American Airlines or any AAdvantage® participant improperly denies you AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits, your exclusive remedy will be the issuance of the improperly denied AAdvantage® Rewards and Benefits, if available, or such other alternative comparable benefit as determined by American Airlines, in its sole discretion. American will have no additional liability whatsoever.
